As a family-owned and led group of companies since 1955, we continue the tradition of quality, integrity, and compassion first established by Ralph and Goldy Lewis. Adherence to these values has made us one of the nation’s foremost privately held real estate development companies, having built more than 58,000 homes, 13,000 apartments, and 24 million square feet of retail, office, and industrial space throughout California and Nevada.
1955
Ralph and Goldy Lewis founded Lewis Homes in Claremont, CA, creating high-quality suburban homes and transforming the landscape of Southern California.
1962
Lewis expands homebuilding operations to Nevada, developing planned communities and later mixed-use projects in Las Vegas.
1972
Lewis opens two new offices: a Sacramento office for Northern California and a Reno office for Northern Nevada.
1976
Growth continues into office, industrial, retail, and apartments.
1987
Ralph and Goldy Lewis win “Builder of the Year” by Professional Builder magazine.
1999
Lewis sells Lewis Homes to Kaufman and Broad (KB Home), creating the nation’s then largest home-building organization.
2004
Victoria Gardens, hailed as the gold standard of outdoor shopping center design, opens in a 1.2 million square foot, open-air town center consisting of retail, office, public plazas, and a civic Cultural Arts Center with a state-of-the art library and playhouse.
